Sean McElwain
Head of Programme Development / Lecturer in Traditional Irish Music
Seán McElwain is a scholar, educator and award-winning musician in the field of Irish traditional music. A doctoral graduate of DKIT, he is the holder of a Master in eCommerce from the University of Galway as well as a Master in Primary Education from Hibernia College.
He is a member of the award-winning Irish traditional group Téada and has performed frequently throughout the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. With the group he has also recorded six albums, the most recent of which Coiscéim Coiligh (2022) was released on the Gael Linn label.
He is also the recipient of a TG4 Gradam Ceoil award (2016) for his ‘Our Dear Dark Mountain With The Sky Over It' project, which focused on the musical heritage of the Sliabh Beagh region of north Monaghan/east Fermanagh.
