School - One Day Workshops
At IIMS we offer opportunities to partake in an immersive set of workshops. These workshops are high energy and very engaging, inclusive and fun for all. Core elements of each of these workshops include listening and responding, getting students to work both individually and as part of a team. They will help build confidence in a short space of time. Our workshops include Bodhran Blast, Global Groove, Body Percussion, Ukulele and Choral.
Bodhrán Blast - 1 Day Workshop
Available for primary and secondary schools
This engaging one-day bodhran workshop aligns perfectly with the strands of the Irish Primary Music Curriculum. Combining listening & responding with hands-on participation and composition students are introduced to the bodhran in an immersive, dynamic learning environment. Under the guidance of an expert IIMS Music Educator, this course will deepen pupils’ understanding of traditional Irish music as well as enhancing their practical skills in a fun and interactive way.
Echoes of Africa - 1 Day Workshop
Available for primary and secondary schools
African drumming workshops are lively, inclusive, and dynamic, attracting both regular enthusiasts and spontaneous participants. These sessions can range in size from small, intimate groups to expansive circles with thousands of players. This fun and interactive workshop offers a vibrant, hands-on opportunity to explore African drumming and culture.
Participants will be introduced to basic djembe drumming techniques and will have the chance to create rhythms as they progress. Through listening and playing, students will build musical connections, express themselves freely, and experience a sense of belonging.
