For all students that wish to take part in exams, we prepare for the ABRSM Exams.
ABRSM is the UK's largest music education body, and it’s exam certificates are internationally valid.
The ABRSM assessments are an effective and reliable way to motivate learners. They provide carefully structured syllabus requirements, progressive goals to work towards, an objective evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses in a learner’s performance and recognition for achievement.

Bear in mind...
Music exams don't suit everyone, and exam syllabuses aren't intended to provide a complete curriculum or choice of repertoire to the exclusion of all other music. We believe that all musicians should explore a wide range of music to stimulate their interest and refresh their outlook. We encourage our students to take part in our monthly Student Recital Series and perform in a welcoming and relaxed context for family and friends.
Your tutor will determine a student’s suitability for an exam application based on practice and performance. If you would like to enrol in exams this can be done directly through your teacher.
Please note well that extra fees apply to exams - the exam entry fee variable by grade, an accompanist and rehearsal fee if applicable to the instrument.
Exams take place at exams centres which may not be on site here at the IIMS - however every effort is made by discussion with the teacher to choose the nearest centre for the student.
