Becky Gilbert

Director of Operations / Head of Early Years Music

Rebecca is an award-winning singer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist with a special interest in Barbershop music. As a group singer, soloist and flautist, Rebecca has represented Ireland around Europe and in the USA at the highest levels of contest and performance, including by invitation in Carnegie Hall. She has sung for acclaimed conductor/composers Danny Elfman, Eric Whitacre, Ennio Morricone and Karl Jenkins and with orchestras and soloists from around the world. Rebecca is a passionate advocate of the positive health benefits of music, especially group singing, and directs six choirs to share this philosophy.

Rebecca is the head of the Early Years Music program & Choirs at the Irish Institute of Music, helping children begin their musical journey in a fun and friendly way. Having trained and worked as a medical doctor for 6 years, Rebecca puts her background knowledge in child development, anatomy and vocal health to good use helping our youngest learners get started with music, and helping singers of all ages achieve their best results in a healthy and sustainable way.
