The Irish Institute of Music & Song welcomes The American Festival Choir

The American Festival Choir consists of singers from 7 major church choirs from the US and the concert in Ireland is part of their 2023 concert tour of the UK & Ireland. The repertoire will include well-known hymns of the faith and popular, Christian songs. The participants include members from The Worship Choir from Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, FL, Dr. Ron Upton, Minister – Worship & Creative Arts and Steve Kirby, Minister – Instrumental Music. The Worship Choir from West Conroe Baptist Church in Conroe, TX, David Whittington, Worship Minister.

On the night The Rejoice Gospel Choir will also perform. Formed in February 2018, Rejoice is a small gospel choir with a big sound under the direction of Carmel Whelan.

Based in Dublin the choir performs traditional spirituals and contemporary gospel numbers in an authentic gospel style, drawing on the rich roots of gospel music and its relationship with other genres such as soul, funk, blues and jazz.
