More info about Neuer Kammerchor Heidenheim:
Since its foundation in 2005, the approximately 70 young singers of the Neuer Kammerchor
Heidenheim have given over 500 concerts and participated in competitions and concert tours around
the world, often bringing home gold medals. Former concert tours brought the choir to Argentina,,
South Africa, Estonia and Finland, Brazil, the Balkans, Mexico and Guatemala, and Romania. Big joint
concerts with reknown professional orchestras and choirs as their selected partners for a certain
period enriched the singers’ range and enlarged the choir’s name not only in Germany.
Thomas Kammel, conductor and founder of the choir, practices a wide range of genres with the
young singers of the age of fourteen to twenty and inspires them with a simple method: having fun
at being successful and rehearsing. Clearly an outstanding feature of the choir is its wide repertoire,
which includes folk songs, gospel, sacred singings, and operettas. With about 40 concerts per year in
addition to their everyday life at school, the singers of the Neuer Kammerchor of the Schiller-
Gymnasium Heidenheim present brilliantly even the most difficult choral literature.
This passion for singing is the cornerstone Thomas Kammel relies on. The youngest singers join the
choir at a very high level, learning from and with the older singers. The African slogan of the Neuer
Kammerchor: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” perfectly fits the
mindset of the singers. Their intention to let their voices be heard around the world to connect
different cultures and build relationships, motivates, and inspires a plurality of people.
During the years 2020 and 2021, not a single rehearsal was left out. Rehearsing in small groups, with
masks and distance or rehearsing via video call, the young singers tried everything possible to stand
up against the virus and keep on singing.
In June their first concert tour aborad leads them to Ireland and Northern Ireland where they will
present their new after-pandemic-programm in Balbriggan (Dublin) 4 th June, Derry/Londonderry 7 th
June, Newport (CoMayo) charity 9 th June and Limerick at Limerick sings festival 11 th 11 th June. They
will be supported among others by the IIMS, Dublin, the Derry Festival Organisation, the City of
Westport and the Limerick Sings Festival.
Thomas Kammel - Director
Besides his profession as a high school teacher for music and history, the conductor and founder of
the NEUER KAMMERCHOR HEIDENHEIM, Thomas Kammel, himself has taught music students in

was the musical leader of the Oratorienchor Heidenheim for more than 15 years. In 2015 the
Oratorienchor Ulm engaged him as its new director. Music activities lead him to France, Belgium,
