Catriona grew up in the North West of Ireland as part of a musical family, and gave her first concert performance at the age of six. She went on to win many major awards at Dublin Feis Ceoil, and Fleadh Cheoil as a traditional musician.
A graduate of Trinity College of Music London, Catriona McElhinney Grimes is an Irish classical pianist and violinist. She is also regular duo performer, and works with many of Ireland’s leading artists.
She has recently concentrated on recordings of her own arrangements of Irish airs and melodies, a project close to her heart.
Catriona has worked as a music educator over a span of three decades. She believes in a holistic approach to her piano and violin teaching, incorporating the psychology of teaching across all the ages and stages.
